Ginny’s Thrift Shop:  This thrift shop in Leominster is trying to raise money for emergency assistance fund for home heating costs.  She could use shoes, sneakers and sandals no matter the shape they are in.  The good, the bad and the ugly will be picked up by a company that will give her 2 cents per shoe.  She will be trying a different thing each week through the fall.  Through her thrift shop she has been helping the less fortunate by collecting and selling or giving away furniture and clothing.  She also runs a food  pantry serving about 40 people a day.  She can be -contacted by calling 978-537-1387 or by visiting the shop at 52 Mechanic St., Leominster.

 

Bible Study:  Non-denominational bible study at the home of Paul & Lynette Silva (978) 368-3206 at 503A Ridgefield Circle.  The group will choose a book of the bible to study to gain a greater understanding of God’s word.  All are welcome to this open and friendly group.  The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm beginning September 9th.

 

Lancaster Farmers Market:   Sponsored by the Celebrate Lancaster! Committee, begins Thursday, July 10, and runs each Thursday, on the town Green, from 3 to 6 p.m. through September.

 

Sterling Farmers Market:  Held every Friday, from 3 to 7 p.m., on the Sterling Common, until the end of October.  Fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants, bread and baked goods, goat cheese, honey, Massachusetts organic milk, local crafts and eggs will be available.

 

Clinton Olde Home Day:  This will be held this year on September 6th.  More information on this will be in next month’s review.

 

Artist Wanted:  Clinton Olde Home Day Committee is calling all artists, beginner and experienced levels, for the third annual Juried Art Show.  There will also be an 18-year-old and under category.  Needed are painters (all mediums): sculptors, photographers, etc.  This event will be held in Fallon Auditorium on Friday, Sept 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry fee is $30 for two pieces. Sterling Fair:  The Fair opens on Friday September 5th at the Sterling Airport and runs until Sunday, September 7th.  This annual family event with a local agricultural focus also features a midway, entertainment, fireworks, crafts and arts.

 

Clinton Bridge Closed:  The Chestnut Street Bridge on Route 70 and 62 will be closed to all traffic from 6 a.m. August 8 until the morning of August 11.

 

Hot-Air Balloon Fest August 9-10:  A hot-air balloon festival will take place August 9 and 10 at the Hudson Elks Pavilion.  Balloons will lift off at 6 a.m. each day from the field behind the Elks Lodge, 99 Park Street.  Beginning at 2 p.m. on August 9, there will be family events, including vendors, entertainment, field games for children and live music by the Bruce Marshall Group, the Boston Blues Society’s nominee at the International Blues Competition in Memphis earlier this year.
